WHO EVER HEARD OF COOKING WITH BUGS?

  Well we did!
We have this fabulous Cookbook with exciting recipes just for the bug lover in you! Try fried green tomato hornworms or banana worm bread YUM YUM.. think of the surprise on your relatives faces at Thanksgiving or Christmas when you surprise them with some real down home cooking!

What is it about North American culture that keeps us from using one of our most abundant and readily available food sources....insects?
 
 
  ROOTWORM BEETLE DIP
1 Cup low-fat Cottage Cheese
1 1/2 TSP lemon juice
2 Tablespoons skim milk
1/2 Cup Reduced Calorie Mayonnaise
1 Tablespoon parsley, chopped
1 Tablespoon onion, chopped
1 1/2 tsp dill weed
1 1/2 tsp Beau Monde
1 Cup Dry Roasted Rootworm Beetles

Blend first 3 ingredients. Add remaining ingredients and chill!
 
 
  GRASSHOPPER TACOS (Tacos de Chapulines)
1/2 pound medium-sized grasshoppers
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lemon, juiced
Salt
2 ripe avocados, mashed
6 tortillas (corn or flour)

Roast grasshoppers for 10 minutes in a 350-degree oven. Toss with garlic, lemon juice, and salt to taste. Spread mashed avocado on tortilla. Sprinkle on roasted hoppers, to taste.
